Previewing the First Coast’s top prep football prospects for 2020

Every year, Northeast Florida produces high school football prospects who will one day be performing on the college football stage.

Here is a look at the local prospects who are all currently ranked inside the top 250 in the state of Florida according to 247sports.com.

Offensive Tackle Austin Barber

Barber (6-foot-7, 315 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Trinity Christian. He committed to Minnesota on May 24, 2020.

Barber is considered to be among the top 85 offensive tackle prospects in the country. He committed to Minnesota over other offers from Kentucky, Louisville and Virginia Tech.

Wide Receiver Patrick Bryant

Bryant (6-foot-3, 187 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Atlantic Coast High School. He committed to Illinois on June 14, 2020.

Bryant is one of the top playmakers in the city and has been his entire high school career at Atlantic Coast. Head coach Lovie Smith and Illinois are getting a good one who also held offers from Florida State, Miami, Nebraska and Penn State.

Wide Receiver Marcus Burke

Burke (6-foot-3, 180 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Trinity Christian. He is currently uncommitted.

Burke, who is considered to be among the top 350 prospects nationally in the class of 2021, has an impressive offer list that is growing as the weeks go by. Burke currently holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia and just recently has added offers from Kentucky, Maryland and Utah.

Tight End Justin Cayenne

Cayenne (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) is a three-star prospect from The Bolles School. He committed to Connecticut on May 7, 2020.

Considered to be among the top 100 tight end prospects in the country, Cayenne had several offers including Bowling Green, Marshall and South Alabama before committing to UConn.

Safety Corey Coley Jr.

Coley (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Trinity Christian. He is currently uncommitted.

Coley is among the top 55 safety prospects in the class of 2021 and currently holds offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, LSU, Maryland and many others.

Tight End Nick Elksnis

Elksnis (6-foot-6, 220 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Episcopal. He committed to Florida on March 7, 2020.

Elksnis is one of the top tight end prospects in the country for the 2021 class. Elksnis was originally committed to Penn State, but flipped to Florida shortly after the arrival of Tim Brewster as tight ends coach in Gainesville.

Safety Caden Fordham

Fordham (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) is a three-star prospect from The Bolles School. He committed to N.C. State on June 9, 2020.

Fordham, who is among the top 50 safety prospects in the nation, committed to N.C. State over offers from Louisville, Miami, Wake Forest and many others. Fordham is the son of former Florida State Seminole and Jacksonville Jaguar offensive tackle Todd Fordham.

Defensive End Langston Hardy

Hardy (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Episcopal. He committed to Connecticut on June 8, 2020.

Hardy is considered to be among the top 90 strongside defensive ends in the nation according to 247sports.com. Hardy had offers from Georgia Tech, Maryland, Wake Forest and others before committing to UConn in early June.

Linebacker Branden Jennings

Jennings (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Sandalwood. He committed to Florida State on Feb. 7, 2020.

Jennings, who is considered to be among the top 10 outside linebacker prospects in the nation, is a legacy commitment for the Seminoles. His father, Bradley Jennings, played for Bobby Bowden in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Tight End Christopher Johnson

Johnson (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Ribault High School. Johnson committed to Connecticut on June 6, 2020.

Johnson, who is considered to be among the top 40 tight end prospects in the country, had offers from Bowling Green, East Carolina, Georgia Southern and many others before committing to UConn. Johnson is one of three local prospects to commit to UConn for the class of 2021.

Quarterback Jacory Jordan

Jordan (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Trinity Christian. Jordan committed to Bowling Green on April 3, 2020.

One of the best quarterbacks in Northeast Florida, Jordan is among the top 50 duel-threat quarterbacks in the country according to 247sports.com. He committed to Bowling Green over offers from FIU, USF, Western Kentucky and others.

Quarterback Santino Marucci

Marucci (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Bartram Trail High School. He committed to Wake Forest on Jan. 6, 2020.

Marucci is among the top 25 pro-style quarterbacks nationally in the class of 2021. The Wake Forest commitment also holds offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Nebraska and many others.

Defensive Tackle Luther McCoy

McCoy (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Creekside High School. He is currently uncommitted.

A top 65 defensive tackle recruit nationally, McCoy holds many impressive offers inclusing Arkansas, Florida State, South Carolina, and in just the last two months, has added offers from Kansas, Minnesota and Penn State.

Running Back Myles Montgomery

Montgomery (5-foot-10, 195 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Fletcher High School. He committed to Cincinnati on March 6, 2020.

A top 150 overall talent in the state of Florida, Montgomery committed to the Bearcats over offers from East Carolina, Maryland, Nebraska, Western Kentucky and others.

Quarterback Jacobi Myers

Myers (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Ponte Vedra High School. He is currently uncommitted.

Myers, who is considered to be among the top 30 duel-threat quarterbacks in the nation, currently holds offers from Indiana, N.C. State, Rutgers, Wake Forest and others. Myers did attend Junior Day at USF in Tampa in early February.

Center Michael Myslinski

Myslinski (6-foot, 285 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Bishop Kenny. Myslinski is currently uncommitted.

Myslinski, considered to be among the 20 best centers in the country, has been picking up steam on the recruiting trail. Since the start of 2020, Myslinski has received offers from Bowling Green, Louisville, Iowa, Maryland, Oregon and has recently added offers from Arkansas, Duke and Missouri.

Myslinski’s father Tom played nine years in the NFL.

Running Back Jaison Patterson

Patterson (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Ed White High School. He committed to Bowling Green on May 20, 2020.

A top 20 all-purpose tailback in the country, Patterson had many offers from programs such as Illinois, Liberty and Troy before committing to Bowling Green.

Linebacker CJ Ross

Ross (5-foot-11, 200 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Trinity Christian. He committed to South Florida on Feb 1, 2020.

Ross, who is among the top 200 overall prospects in the state of Florida, is staying in-state after committing to USF over offers from Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Wake Forest and others.

Defensive Back Robert Simmons

Simmons (5-foot-9, 160 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Sandalwood High School. He is currently uncommitted.

Simmons holds offers from all over the country including Colorado, Oregon, Tennessee, Wake Forest and many others. Simmons has added offers from Arkansas, Bowling Green, Georgia State and Liberty in the past two months.

Quarterback Walter Simmons III

Simmons (6-foot-2, 194 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Oakleaf High School. He is currently uncommitted.

Simmons is considered to be among the top 15 duel-threat quarterbacks in the country. Simmons had a great 2019 season, but was overshadowed by both Carson Beck and Jeff Sims who played in the same district. Now that Beck and Sims have both moved on to college, 2020 could be Simmons year to shine.

Simmons currently holds offers from Georgia Tech, LSU, UCF, Virginia and many others. He also attended Junior Day at USF in Tampa in early February.

Linebacker Dedrick Smith

Smith (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Lee High School. He is currently uncommitted.

Smith, who is listed as an ‘athlete’ on many recruiting sites due to the numerous position he can play, currently holds offers from Illinois, North Carolina and many others.

Wide Receiver Jaylen Smith

Smith (6-foot, 170 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Mandarin High School. He committed to Bowling Green on May 16, 2020.

Smith, who was on the Mandarin state title team in 2018, had offers from many programs including FIU, South Alabama and UT-Martin before committing to Bowling Green.

Safety Larry Smith

Smith (5-foot-10, 170 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Oakleaf High School. He committed to Indiana on April 10, 2020.

Smith, who is a top 45 safety prospect nationally, committed to Indiana over offers from Duke, North Carolina, Ole miss and others.

Athlete Dequan Stanley

Stanley (5-foot-10, 156 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Saint Augustine High School. He committed to South Florida on June 23, 2020.

Stanley can do it all, defensive back, wide receiver, kick returner, you name it and Stanley has done it. He committed to USF over offers from Maryland, Troy and many others.
