An early look at Florida Gator’s 2021 football recruiting class

In the world of recruiting, there is very little time to rest. With the 2020 recruiting class behind us, all eyes beginning turning to the class of 2021.

For Dan Mullen, the 2021 class has begun to take shape. Florida has already secured 11 commitments for and currently is ranked third nationally according to 247sports.com.

Here is a look at the 11 current prospects who have verbally committed to the University of Florida for the class of 2021.

Linebacker Chief Borders

Borders (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Carrollton, GA. He committed to Florida on November 10, 2019.

Borders is considered to be a top 20 outside linebacker prospect nationally and a top 300 overall talent in the class. He is currently the only linebacker Florida has committed and he recently added a Florida State offer.

Defensive Back Clinton Burton Jr.

Burton (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Baltimore. He committed to Florida on September 2, 2019.

Burton is among the top 10 prospects in Maryland and is overall a top 15 cornerback recruit nationally. Burton has an impressive offer list including Alabama, Clemson, Michigan and Penn State, but has stayed committed to Florida for over five months now.

Quarterback Carlos Del Rio

Del Rio (6-foot-2, 201 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Loganville, GA. He committed to Florida on July 26, 2019.

Del Rio is considered to be a top 15 pro-style quarterback nationally in the 2021 class and is also one of Florida’s best recruiters on social media. He has taken a leadership role trying to help the Gators by recruiting players from all over the country.

Del Rio currently holds offers from Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan and many others.

Offensive Tackle Javonte Gardner

Gardner (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Orlando. He committed to Florida on December 20, 2019.

Gardner is considered to be a top 40 offensive tackle prospect nationally in the 2021 class. Gardner, who currently holds offers from Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee, is one of two offensive linemen in Florida’s 2021 class, joining fellow three-star commitment George Jackson.

Offensive Tackle George Jackson

Jackson (6-foot-4, 350 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Stone Mountain, GA. He committed to Florida on November 17, 2018.

Jackson, who is among the top 40 offensive tackle prospects in the nation, was Florida’s first commitment for its 2021 class. Jackson also holds offers from Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.

Wide Receiver Daejon Reynolds

Reynolds (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Loganville, GA. He committed to Florida on February 3, 2020.

Reynolds, who is a high school teammate with Del Rio, is among the top 15 ‘athlete’ recruits in the nation. Reynolds, who has played both wide receiver and defensive back in high school, has an impressive offer list including Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Miami.

Wide Receiver Trevonte Rucker

Rucker (5-foot-11, 157 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Ocala. He committed to Florida on February 11, 2020.

Rucker, who is considered to be a top 25 wide receiver prospect nationally and a top 125 overall recruit, is the latest commitment for the Gators 2021 class. He had offers from all over the country including Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Miami.

Defensive End Tyreek Sapp

Sapp (6-foot-3, 255 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale. He committed to Florida on December 24, 2018.

Sapp is considered to be a top 10 strong side defensive end in the class of 2021. He has offers from many top programs nationally including Alabama and Miami and just within the past month picked up an offer from Ohio State.

Sapp is currently one of two defensive linemen committed to Florida’s 2021 class.

Running Back Brashard Smith

Smith (5-foot-8, 177 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Miami. He committed to Florida on January 8, 2020.

Smith is considered to be among the top five all-purpose tailbacks in the class of 2021. Smith, who is currently the lone tailback commitment for Florida, holds offers from Alabama, LSU, Miami and others.

Defensive Tackle Christopher Thomas

Thomas (6-foot-5, 280 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Fort Myers. He committed to Florida on September 23, 2019.

Thomas is considered to be a top 35 defensive tackle prospect nationally. He has recently picked up offers from both Miami and Penn State.

Athlete Kamar Wilcoxson

Wilcoxson, (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Bradenton. He committed to Florida on July 27, 2019.

Wilcoxson is considered to be among the top 300 overall prospects in the country for the class of 2021. He has recently picked up offers from Georgia, Kentucky, Miami and Ohio State.
