Three-star Fletcher offensive tackle Bradley Ashmore is committed to Vanderbilt. Ashmore recently sat down with 1010XL to discuss not his commitment and upcoming senior season at Fletcher High School as well.
“I’m really excited and I think we have a really good team this year,” Ashmore told 1010XL. “I think our chemistry is better than any team I’ve ever played on. We spend a lot of time together and are getting to know each other better. I think we are going to have a good year on both sides of the ball and have a really special team.”
Playing at Fletcher means playing home games less than a mile away from the Atlantic Ocean. Ashmore says it’s a special experience out at the beach on Friday nights.
“When you step on the field at a venue like Fletcher, it gets packed and it can get pretty intense,” Ashmore said.
Ashmore committed to Vanderbilt back on November 24, 2018; he was asked to describe the feeling of being committed to play college football in the SEC.
“I really can’t ever describe it,” Ashmore said. “It’s been my dream my whole life to play college football. I think I found the one school that fits all my wants and my needs, from academically, to the city, football, the coaches and the players, it’s everything I want. So, I’m 100 percent going to be a Commodore and I’m excited.”
Finally, Ashmore was asked about being a part of the 2020 class here locally in northeast Florida, a class that will go down as one of the best this area has ever seen.
“It’s special because there are so many guys that will get that opportunity to play on the next level,” Ashmore said. “That’s not what high school is about. High school is about high school football, but at the same time seeing all these guys get this opportunity is special to see.”
Fletcher will begin its 2019 season on Friday night, August 23, taking on Bishop Kenny. That game can be heard on 1010XL.
