With the 2019 recruiting cycle in the books, now is the time to take an early look at the 2020 recruiting cycle in the Jacksonville area. Jacksonville is full of talent for the next class with many prospects already committed to Power 5 programs.

Here is a look at the top offensive talent locally (listed alphabetically) entering the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Offensive Tackle Bradley Ashmore: Ashmore (6-foot-6, 280 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Fletcher High School.

The skinny: Ashmore committed to Vanderbilt on November 24, 2018 over offers from Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, Purdue and others. Fletcher made the playoffs for the first time in four years in 2018 and a return trip seems likely in 2019 with all its returning talent.

Quarterback Carson Beck: Beck (6-foot-3, 214 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Mandarin High School.

The skinny: Beck was committed to Alabama for nearly eight months before de-committing from the Crimson Tide on February 4, 2019. Beck is receiving interest from all over the country including Florida, Florida State and Miami. Beck also recently added offers from Georgia Tech and Penn State.

Beck helped lead Mandarin to an 8A state championship in 2018 and also won Florida’s Mr. Football award as well. Beck’s recruitment will certainly be one to follow for Gator and Hurricane fans in the Jacksonville area.

Quarterback Devon Lingle: Lingle (6-foot-2, 199 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Fletcher High School.

The skinny: Lingle has received numerous offers from programs from across the country including Cincinnati, East Carolina, Toledo and USF. Lingle is a good looking prospect that is sure to receive more offers as the 2020 recruiting trail continues.

Lingle is part of a terrific quarterback class in northeast Florida in 2020 which also includes Sandalwood quarterback and Florida State commit Jeff Sims and Florida’s Mr. Football in 2018 Mandarin quarterback Carson Beck.

Wide Receiver Xavier McGriff: McGriff (6-foot-2, 182 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Baldwin High School.

The skinny: McGriff holds numerous offers from high-profile programs including Florida State, Kentucky, Nebraska and Ole Miss. Baldwin is coming off a terrific 2018 season and if Baldwin hopes to continue that success in 2019, McGriff will have to play a big part.

Offensive Tackle Jalen Rivers: Rivers (6-foot-55, 327 pounds) is a four-star prospect from Oakleaf High School

The skinny: Rivers is considered to be a Top 10 offensive tackle prospect nationally by He has offers from numerous programs including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

The offers have continued to pour in for Rivers this year as well. Since the start of 2019, Rivers has received offers from Oregon, Penn State and Texas.

Oakleaf High School is loaded with talent heading into the 2019 season and Rivers is right at the top of that list.

Quarterback Jeff Sims: Sims (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) is a three-star prospect from Sandalwood High School.

The skinny: Sims committed to Florida State on February 2, 2019 over offers from Georgia, LSU, Louisville and many others. Sims is a huge commitment for Willie Taggart because the Seminoles have now gone both 2018 and 2019 recruiting classes without signing a high school quarterback.

It will be imperative for Florida State to hold on to Sims who is sure to continue moving up the ranking boards and receiving offers from programs across the country.
