FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jacksonville Expected to be Largest Special Needs Prom in the Worldwide Movement of Night to Shine
Jacksonville, FL – Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs. This year, more than 150,000 volunteers in more than 375 churches around the world will serve more than 75,000 honored guests simultaneously on one night, Friday, February 10, 2017. The 375 host churches represent all 50 states, 11 countries and 28 different denominations and mark an 850% growth from year one.
Here in Jacksonville, nine local churches are collaborating together to host what is expected to be the largest Night to Shine Prom to date. It will be the largest collaboration of churches and, with more than 1,000 expected guests, it will potentially be the largest prom in the entire worldwide movement of Night to Shine. The nine churches involved include Christ’s Church, Faithbridge Church, First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Impact Church, Lake Asbury Baptist Church, Southside United Methodist Church, The Church of Eleven22, Trinity Baptist Church and University Church. This local prom will take place downtown at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, and will require more than 3,000 volunteers to welcome, serve and celebrate the expected 1,000 honored guests with special needs.
The Tim Tebow Foundation is excited about this collaboration because Jacksonville is the hometown of founder, Tim Tebow, and the town in which the foundation’s headquarters are located.
“We are so proud of Jacksonville and the nine churches that are working together to celebrate the amazing people with special needs in Northeast Florida,” said Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation. “Night to Shine is so much more than just a prom; it is a time where you can share God’s love and tell someone that they are loved and valuable!”
Mark Jackson from University Church will serve as the spokesperson for the collaboration of churches, and he is counting down the days until the big event.
“I cannot wait to see what God has in store for Night to Shine Jacksonville,” he said. “It is going to be incredible to see what we are able to accomplish when we all come together in the name of the Lord to love His people with special needs.”
As sponsor of Night to Shine, the Tim Tebow Foundation provides each host church with the official 2017 Night to Shine Planning Manual, the official Night to Shine Prom Kit, complete with decorations and gifts for the guests, and personalized guidance and support from a Tim Tebow Foundation staff member. The foundation also is providing financial support to hundreds of churches needing assistance in hosting the event.
This year alone, the Tim Tebow Foundation will contribute more than $3 million in financial grants to assist churches in hosting Night to Shine in their communities. To help offset the annual expense of Night to Shine, TTF has been searching for corporate partners who share the foundation’s heart for people with special needs.
TTF is excited to announce its first-ever global corporate partner, American Residential Services (ARS/Rescue Rooter), a relationship that will ensure future success and help pave the way for continued growth of the event. ARS has been a top supporter of the Tim Tebow Foundation since its inception, and they recently announced their plans to partner with the TTF for the next three years to continue serving people with special needs through Night to Shine. ARS’s support will ensure the continued growth of Night to Shine and help with the foundation’s goal of making sure that every person with special needs knows that they are celebrated, valued and loved. In addition to their financial support, hundreds of ARS employees all throughout the nation will be serving as volunteers at various Night to Shine host churches.
“We are so grateful for the support of American Residential Services as our first global corporate partner of Night to Shine” said Tim Tebow, Founder, Tim Tebow Foundation. “ARS has been an amazing partner since the inception of the foundation, and I continue to be humbled by their heart and passion for making a difference in the lives of others.”
Night to Shine is a complimentary event for people with special needs, ages 14 and older. Every guest of Night to Shine enters this event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors for each honored guest and, of course, a dance floor… all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.
During Night to Shine 2015, 44 host churches and 15,000 volunteers worked together to honor more than 7,000 kings and queens of the prom. Last February, Night to Shine 2016 saw 450% growth, reaching 32,000 honored guests in 201 host churches with 75,000 volunteers. Night to Shine 2017 promises to be the most impactful event yet, with more than 375 churches signed up to participate all around the world.
