What I Love About Baseball

Mar 29, 2013 -- 10:04am

I love baseball.

I love the sounds of the crack of the bat and the smack of the ball hitting the glove.

I love the smell of the grass and a new baseball right out of the box.

I love that there’s no clock and both teams get an equal amount of outs.

I love the home run trot and I love the bunt.

I love seeing the shortstop go in the hole to rob someone of a hit and I love seeing the runner stretch a double into a triple.

I love seeing a team turn the double play. I love seeing the runner make the turn at third and head for home on a single.

I love the mental game played between pitcher and hitter. I love the chatter of the infielders.

I love all of the statistics in baseball and how the numbers have historical importance. I still love looking at baseball cards.

Don’t waste your time telling me baseball is too slow. You don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve never seen a great game that lasted too long or a bad game that was played too quickly – regardless of the sport.

Baseball is a beautiful game that requires skill and guts to master. I love the fact in it’s a game for people of all sizes.

A new Major League Baseball season starts this weekend. The minor league season – go Suns! – starts next week.

Yeah, you guessed it. I love that.
